Kainchi Dham

Jai Sri Ram 🙏

Kainchi Dham :

Kainchi is a beautiful secluded mountain ashram located in the Kumaon Hills in Uttarakand. The first temple was inaugurated in June 1964. It is approximately 38 km from Nainital. Many hundreds of people visit the temples here every day, in season. Rules are strictly enforced and individuals staying at the ashram are required to participate in morning and evening arati. The ashram is closed for a large portion of the year, because it becomes very cold.

The Divine Legend of Kainchi Dham

The Miracle of Twin Temples
In 1964, when workers struggled to build the Hanuman temple, Baba miraculously completed it overnight. The twin temples (one for Hanuman, one for Lakshmi-Narayan) symbolize his teaching: “Service (Hanuman) and Devotion (Lakshmi-Narayan) are two sides of one truth.”

Global Guru’s Abode
Here, the Beatles’ spiritual quest deepened in 1968. Maharaj-ji’s simple question to them – “Have you seen God?”* – still challenges visitors today.

The Ever-Present Samadhi
Though Baba left his body in 1973, devotees report his visible presence near the Samadhi shrine, especially during the grand June festivals.

Best Time to Visit Kainchi Dham:

March-June: Pleasant (15°C-25°C), ideal for meditation
Sept-Nov: Autumn clarity, festive energ

Note:  Kainchi Dham asks no arduous trek but demands an open heart. The real journey isn’t to the ashram but into Maharaj-ji’s timeless teaching: “Sub ek” (All is One).
